The striking monochrome home of a Swedish photographer

It's the weeeekend. woohoo! As you know I love to go for a striking home tour to celebrate.  This monochrome home, which I think totally fits the bill,  is in stark contrast to the colourful spaces I showed in yesterday's post. You won't be surprised to hear that this beautiful black and white home is owned by a creative duo: talented Swedish photographer Magdalena Björnsdotter and her husband Eric who's passionately into music. The country home was built as a farmhouse in the 1920's and has been carefully restored into a modern graphical home.  I've featured over 100  black and white homes here over the years and love how each and every one is unique. And this one is no exception. I love how they've draped fabrics over furniture,  the cool artwork throughout and interestingly displayed photography. What do you love about this home?

Magdelena Björnsdotter. Boligliv
Is this your kind of space? Are you more a black and white or a pops of colour interior person?

A couple of items I know and love: White Tolix chairs, Women: Annie Leibovitz coffee table book, Svenskt tenn elephant cushion and textile on the piano seat. Magnetic herb tins and seat cushions on bench by Granit.

More beautiful interiors shot by Magdalena include Ylva Skarp's Christmassy home and  a rustic farmhouse in Skåne.  Oh so fabulous!

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

A dreamy little space to call home

One of my dreams is to have a a work studio in my (future) garden which doubles as a pretty guest house for friends and family. Do you share a similar dream?  Then I came across this shed conversion on Design Sponge and my idea was immediately brought to life! Over the space of two months designer, stylist and artist Paige Morse converted a shed in her back garden into a stunning Scandinavian inspired black and white retreat. Her goal was to create a space from which she can work, She was so thrilled with the outcome she now actually lives in the 'Casita' and rents out her house to afford the lifestyle she so desires: to work on her creatives full time. What an inspiration?!

Be still my beating heart!

This really is the casita of my dreams! The only thing I would add is a turf roof as seen on this and this home. How about you? Could you see yourself working / living here?

You can see the full before and after shots over at Design Sponge and read more about Paige's work here.

Other fantastic, unusual and alternative garden shed conversions here and here.

A monochrome Gothenburg apartment

Hello! How's your week going?! Mine's going great - thanks to a surprise parcel in the post yesterday. Firstly I love receiving surprise packages don't you? And secondly it contained a beautiful interior coffee table book called Modern Rustic (pictures here)- double happy! Today's home tour of a newly renovated Gothenburg apartment is anything but modern rustic, but it is lovely all the same. There's no stopping the black kitchen cabinets right now, it's definitely the hottest design trend in Scandinavia right now, that I see anyway?! Enjoy the tour....

A very cool black and white Swedish home

This is your original white and black contemporary Scandinavian home tour. White (or light wood) floors and walls. black accessories, a yellow accent colour and a really fantastic black and white kitchen. What's not to love?!

Stadshem via Coco Lapine with thanks

A few items I know and love: Hay DLM side table in yellow, I love this black and white print and others here, Pia Wallén cross blanket. Panton chair dS in the kitchen, Black and white striped basket, and Ferm Living half moon basket. Fab fancy finger cushion / pillow by Lucky boy Sunday.

Could you live here?

In this home they've chosen a yellow accent colour and stuck to white walls. However, Swedish paint company Nordsjö announced their colour of the year 2015 yesterday. Which is (drum roll please...) Copper orange. What do you think? Can you see yourself using this hue in your home next year?

Before I dash off  I just want to say a a big warm welcome to all new readers. I hope you like the daily home tours and find some inspiration for your own home! We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below!

Have a lovely day!

A striking black and white Danish home

Today I'd like to share a fab Danish home tour with an incredibly striking contrast. It's the family home of Sofie and Frank Christensen Egelund and their four children located just outside Copenhagen. The home fascinates me as it goes from serene white to a striking 'moody' dark grey in the kitchen. You may also notice the vast array of VIPP pedal bins dotted around the house. Sofie is Granddaughter to the founder of VIPP and now runs the company. The yellow one's my favourite (it would look amazing against the grey), how about you?!

Nuevo Estilo via 79 ideas and Desire to Inspire

A few classics I know and love: Vitra Lounge Chair & Ottoman, Vitra coffee table, and the Butterfly stool. Zettel'z 5 Chandelier, and Wood Lamp by Muuto.

If I were to choose a favoruite space in this home I would actually go for the staircase! I'm serious!!There is something about an all white staircase - even though it might not be the most practical. That or the beautiful home office. How about you?

Thank you so much to everyone for entering the Hommum give-away at the weekend! I have e-mailed the winner. Look out for another weekend give-away on here soon!

Have a lovely day!

A Finnish space fit for a superhero

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend? Last week I went out for a drink with Peggy of wonderful children's blog Paul & Paula and it got me thinking how long ago I showed fabulous children's space inspiration. The monochrome and wood 'superhero' children's bedroom and playroom have been created by Finnish blogger Sini for her little boy and girl. Sini has personalised many of the items in the two rooms which just goes to show what you can do with a little DIY. For example I love the way she has jazzed up a white STUVA cupboard with half moon stickers and a MALM chest of drawers with black rain drops. And how cute is the 'superhero sleeping' garland?!

Kaikkimita Olen

A quick round up of items I know and love:  TUVBRÄCKA black and white striped bedding, STRING shelving, MUUTO dots coat hook, Ferm Living wire basket. Man in the moon print, personalised letters garland, lego storage. Mini rain drop stickers and other fab stickers by Ferm Living. Pear shaped wooden play house from Rock & Pebble. The curtain fabric is Kulkue by Finnish brand Marimekko.

I love this very simple yet extremely clever half moon DIY project too.

What a perfect space for a super hero don't you think?!

PS for children's clothes my favourite shops are Smallable (always a favourite for Scandinavian designer brands) and Polpettine for absolutely beautiful girls clothes. Do you have any favourite stores?

Have a lovely start to the week!
