A Malmö apartment with a mid-century touch

Well hello there Monday! I hope you had a great weekend?! It's half term here in Southern Sweden so I'm gearing up for a trip to London later this week - sooo excited! Are you up to anything fun? Today I'd like to share this lovely apartment here in Malmö with you. There's just something about it I love - could it be the mid-century touches? Most likely! But also the elements of surprise such as the bright floral printed cushion against the green harlequin wallpaper in the hall or the pom poms in the bedroom. So pretty! What do you love about this home?

A few items I know and love: Prints: apple papple, pirum parum, Martin Lannering insect alphabet. String shelves. Hay industrial lamp. 

I know it sounds crazy but my family and I are already talking about what to do next summer! I think it's because the days are getting so short. A few weeks ago I received a mail about Villa Pia in Lippiano, between Tuscany and Umbria in Italy. I immediately started dreaming about sipping a cappuccino while looking out over the olive groves, vineyards and a 10th century castle in the distance. And Villa Pia sounds totally family friendly too. The 5 acre grounds offer two swimming pools, play areas and a trampoline. And children are welcome to join cookery and art classes (my girls would be in heaven!). And for us adults they offer cookery classes, pilates and wine tasting (I guess not all at the same time!) among other things. Could I have found my summer vacation 2015?!

A monochrome Gothenburg apartment

Hello! How's your week going?! Mine's going great - thanks to a surprise parcel in the post yesterday. Firstly I love receiving surprise packages don't you? And secondly it contained a beautiful interior coffee table book called Modern Rustic (pictures here)- double happy! Today's home tour of a newly renovated Gothenburg apartment is anything but modern rustic, but it is lovely all the same. There's no stopping the black kitchen cabinets right now, it's definitely the hottest design trend in Scandinavia right now, that I see anyway?! Enjoy the tour....

A Swedish apartment with a mid-century touch

I do love a touch of mid-century in a home. And this space in Gothenburg has blended it in with some contemporary Scandinavian pieces so incredibly well. Just look at that mid-century cabinet paired with a Hay strap mirror and brass lamp next to a set of String system shelving. What a great combination!

I think this is the third time this week we've seen a black and white kitchen - your style or not? For some alternative kitchen inspiration I have over 1300 beautiful kitchen and dining spaces (yes really! Sign of a slight Pinterest addiction?!) hoarded on my Kitchen Pinterest board.

And there's that wonderful cross blanket again. This time draped over a very cool vintage leather sofa.

A calm white, blue and cognac Malmö home

I hope you had a wonderful weekend? Today I've got very zen home to share with you. It's actually for sale here in Malmö, Sweden (come and join us!!).  There's something about the white, blue and cognac combined with the pastels that I love.  It's perhaps a little too empty for my taste (I guess this is part of the estate agent styling) but  I'm sure I could make it my own in no time, how about you?

Very calm don't you think?

I see they have my favourite chair - the diamond armchair (throw a sheepskin over in the autumn and winter for extra loveliness) and Thonet 214 chairs. Try the 'Cassis' bed linen for similar. I love the black and white art photography in the desk area, any ideas where it's from?

I wasn't sure whether I was going to say anything but I must admit I'm feeling a little sorry for myself  today- I hurt my calf playing sport yesterday and was sent home from A&E with crutches and now awaiting an ultra sound. Have you ever hurt your achilles heel or a muscle in your calf before? It's soooo painful! Mind you, not all's bad, I get to spend a rainy Monday in bed reading/ watching Netflix, kind of bliss!

Small space inspiration: a lovely Swedish apartment

It's the weekend. woohoo! It's a special one in our home as my youngest turns 4! She's asked to go horse riding for her birthday so we'll be heading out into the forest with a few friends. I'm so looking forward to it as the leaves are just starting to turn red and yellow and the forest floor is lined with mushrooms and toadstools. Such a lovely time of year! Before I head off I wanted to share this lovely home with you (for sale here). Believe it or not it's only 41 metres square with the sitting room, sleeping area and home office combined in one room. Despite the limitations there's something very calm and uncluttered about it. Perfect inspiration for a small living area don't you think?

A Swedish apartment in notes of white, cream and beige

There's something very pretty and serene about this Gothenburg home. I'm not sure if it's the way it's been photographed, the calm white, cream and beige tones or the vintage touches or perhaps a combination of all three? But there's something about it that I really like. Have you noticed how cream / beige walls have made a bit of a come back this Autumn? Although I'm more of a white wall kind of gal there's no denying beige adds a lovely element of warmth especially as it gets darker outside (the clocks go forward in a few weeks eeeek, let's not talk about it!). I could see myself padding around here, how about you?!

A stunning Gothenburg home with a black floor

The Friday home tour always calls for something extra special. So this morning I've been hunting high and low for a space which I think is simply amazing. And this is it. A Gothenburg apartment with beautiful high ceilings, white walls and grounded by a black floor to create a homely feel. I love the cognac and grey accents and the beautiful classical wishbone (or CH24) chairs in the dining room too. What a fabulous home, don't you think?!

The blonde nordic apartment

If I were to start renovating my home again from scratch I'd go for the 'blonde nordic' look. Light grey walls and white washed wood floors. Lots of natural light.  Add monochrome and pastels and I'm totally sold. This apartment is the perfect example of 'blonde nordic' in my eyes (do you agree?!). I love the addition of the exposed brickwork in the sitting room and the occasional pop of yellow and green. Such a lovely space!

I'm sometimes e-mailed about why I rarely show TV's in the home tours on here. The answer is that I feel they rarely look good (although I know they're a necessary piece of equipment!). But in this home I think the owners / stylists have been really clever at incorporating one in a way that looks clean and stylish. Don't you agree?

On the subject of TV's, how do you have yours in your home? Is it hidden or on display? Do you have a giant one or a small subtle one? Or perhaps you have a projector (if so I'm intrigued about how you find it as I'm tempted....?!).
