A serene home in neutrals and dusty hues.

Hello! I hope you've had a great start to the week?! Today I'm inspired by a home decorated in neutrals, muted pastels, grey and white. The use of soft textiles throughout also work to create a relaxed. homely feel. It's actually a fairly small space (53 metres square) but the owners /designers have made clever use of every inch. What a lovely home!

Just like in yesterday's home, I can see so many pieces I love  - Sitting room: rug similar to the one shown in this fabulous home from private0204,  Gubi mirror. Bedroom: Felt ball rug, linen bedding and Hay boxes. Dining area: Bumling light. Office: Tivoli radio, Eames DAW chair. Hallway: Vitra Hang it All.

Anything in particular you love about this home?

Have a lovely day!

A fabulous Swedish apartment in neutrals

Hello Monday! Finding beautiful homes on 'Hemnet' is a favourite past time and this blog wouldn't be the same without featuring at least one Swedish property for sale during the week! And have I got a fabulous one to kick off the week with! I'm not sure what I love most about this mostly white apartment  - the high ceilings and cornicing? The beautiful wood floor? Or simply the owners impeccable style and neutral colour scheme. There's just so much inspiration to be taken from this space...

In case you're wondering where a few of the items are from I spy: a Bertoia side chair, the DLM table, cross blanket and sheepskin throw in the sitting room, and Ferm living Half Moon basket and Thonet 209 chair at the desk the bedroom.

Such a perfect home to start the week with don't you think?! Anything in particular that inspires you?

Have a lovely Monday!

A beautiful Malmö home in neutrals

Hello, and happy Monday! I'd like to kick off the week with a home tour of this beautiful apartment here in Malmö, Sweden (currently for sale, wink wink!). I love the soft, neutral tones of paint, the large open rooms and high ceilings which are so typical of the buildings in the theatre area. The furniture reads like a who's who of designer items and that spiral staircase *sigh*!

I spy: the Eames armchair DAR around the dining room table, the Isamu Noguchi coffee table (both 15% off with code MYSCAN :). The Modernica bubble ball lamp, Bertoia's Diamond Armchair (on my wishlist!) and the fabulous bird pendant light by Swedish based designer Hung Ming Chen. Am I missing anything?

Could you live here?

It was super sunny in Southern Sweden this weekend. After a long winter everyone appeared from hibernation, and sat in rows outside cafés with faces angled towards the sun. It was a site to be seen! Ooooo to feel the warmth of the sun on the skin again.

PS a warm welcome to all you lovely new readers. If you get the chance, leave a message, we'd love to hear from you!

Timeless design

San Fransisco based designer Jiun Ho creates rooms that are harmonious and balanced by using textures against clean lines, simple fabrics and inviting shapes. I am attracted to his interior spaces because they re so well thought out and the scale of everything always seems right. Symmetry and restraint play a prominent role in all his work.  If I had to describe his interiors I would say they are tranquil,  classic and timeless, three characteristics that make beautiful interiors.   He describes his work as   " ... all about style rather than fashion, all about relaxed living rather than studied formality."

The quite simplicity of this entrance is perfect.  Some might consider it too stark, but I always find clean lines and minimalism  invite one to relax.

This small kitchen space uses an island to increase storage and provide an eating area. Although the cabinets are a darker colour, the lighter walls, floor and  seats balance the darks nicely.

There is an overall lack of "objects" here,  but those that are chosen have perfect scale for the room.

In his palettes  you usually find one colour as an accent  used with darker neutrals - in this case  brown red . In the rooms below it's a rich gold.

These two rooms share the fireplace and you can peek through from one to the other.  Perfection. Again darks are broken up with a significant amount of light and the lighting is provided by clean lined fixtures with bold scale.

How do you feel about these rooms?   Do you have a favourite?
